EDEN PROJECT TO HOST WORLD PASTY CHAMPIONSHIPS
The World Pasty Championships, a grand celebration of Cornwall’s most famous dish, are announced by the Eden Project today. The new event is to take place at the Eden Bakery between the famous Biomes on March 3, 2012, the Saturday before St Piran’s Day (March 5) which celebrates the national day of Cornwall.

PADSTOW HOSTS CORNISH PASTY FESTIVAL
A celebration of the Cornish pasty will be held in by the harbour in Padstow on Monday (28th November 2011) to mark the Cornish pasty officially achieving protected food name status. Organised by The Chough Bakery, Padstow, and supported by the Cornish Pasty Association (CPA), this unique celebration of Cornwall’s iconic food for all family will run between 3pm and 8pm.

CORNWALL CELEBRATES PROTECTION FOR ITS FAMOUS PASTIES
The Cornish Pasty Association (CPA) is celebrating after receiving Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status for its world famous pasty. The decision from the European Commission means that from now only Cornish pasties made in Cornwall and following the traditional recipe can be called ‘Cornish pasties’.

Following the rescue of the Polish owned tall ship The Fryderyk Chopin and its compliment of 11 crew and 36 youngsters on Saturday night, the Cornish Pasty Association has ensured the rescued party received a warm welcome by offering them Cornwall’s most popular food, the Cornish Pasty as soon as they came ashore.

CORNISH PASTY FILM SELECTED BY COUNTY FILM FESTIVAL
A film which demonstrates the Cornish passion for pasties has been selected for screening at the 2010 Cornwall Film Festival (5th- 7th November). The film, entitled The Cornish Pasty, was produced by members of the Cornish Pasty Association (CPA) to support its PGI application to protect the Cornish pasty. The CPA film will be eligible to win The Delabole Slate Audience Award and The Golden Chough Grand Prize.

NEW FILM DEMONSTRATES CORNISH PASSION FOR PASTIES
The Cornish Pasty Association (CPA) has produced a film to support its PGI application and emphasise the importance of the Cornish pasty to Cornwall. The film, which demonstrates the Cornish passion for pasties, will get its first public screening at the Royal Cornwall Show (10th – 12th June) and will then be shown at schools and other venues across the county.

SOUTH WEST MEP GRAHAM WATSON TAKES CORNISH PASTIES TO EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT
Graham Watson, Liberal Democrat Member of the European Parliament for South West of England, has taken genuine Cornish pasties to his colleagues in the European Parliament in Brussels. It is a great show of support for the Cornish Pasty Association (CPA) which is currently waiting for the European Commission to grant final approval for the PGI status for the Cornish delicacy.

CPA TO EXHIBIT AT WEST EXPO
The Cornish Pasty Association will be exhibiting at the West Expo in Cornwall (2nd – 4th March). This trade exhibition is aimed at regional hotel, catering, hospitality and food suppliers. The Association will explain to visitors the importance of protecting the authentic ‘Cornish Pasty’ and will invite other pasty producers or sellers to become members of the CPA. PASTY BAKERS GEAR UP FOR BUSY SUMMER
Members of the Cornish Pasty Association (CPA) are predicting a remarkable summer season as the credit crunch is likely to make more British people holiday at home. This view from travel commentators is backed by the latest figures from the Office of National Statistics which showed a 10.5% decline in overseas travel in October. The South West is likely to be one of the most popular choices for tourists.

CORNISH PASTY ASSOCIATION REACHES 50TH MEMBER

The Cornish Pasty Association (CPA) has reached its 50th member with the addition of two traditional Cornish bakeries. Nile's Bakery from St Austell and Purdys Bakery from Liskeard now join the other 48 members following a successful year for the Association to protect the quality and reputation of the Cornish pasty.

The Cornish Pasty Association (CPA) is a step closer to attaining PGI status for Cornish pasties after DEFRA confirmed that it is backing its application and will be sending it to the European Commission for final approval.

The Association is also looking for more pasty bakers to become a member and join the group.
