CORNISH PASTY RECEIVES PGI STATUS
One of Cornwall’s most
iconic food products, the Cornish pasty, has been awarded Protected
Geographical Indication (PGI) status.
The decision from the European Commission means that from now only
Cornish pasties made in Cornwall and following the traditional recipe
can be called ‘Cornish pasties’. The application has been published in
the Official Journal of the European Union which gives a legal
confirmation of the protection of the Cornish pasty.
